- Yes, with the right species and prep. We specify rift-and-quartered white oak, hickory, or narrow-plank red oak (2-1/4" to 3-1/4") for Loveland and Fort Collins homes, acclimate the wood inside your house for 5-7 days before install, and run a whole-home humidifier target of 35-45% year-round.
